The first few pictures in this album were taken when the lake was drained a few years ago. Wading birds such as herons were able to search for food where they never had before.

The pictures of the great blue heron on the rock in Turtle Pond were taken on June 5, 2020.

The two pictures of the green heron were taken on the same day. Although I often see green herons fly over my house, this was the first time I had ever seen one by the river. Happily I had my camera with me at the time. (OK, that isn't really a surprise now is it.)
